Last Wed. evening at Rocklin High School, the Coalition for Placer Youth , Full Circle Treatment Center and Community Recovery Resources organized a town hall forum on the social value of recovery through the testimonies of people who have overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol.

The Nevada County Elections Office released updated figures Friday morning, showing voter support for Measure U has increased to four tenths of a percent. With about 1,000 provisional ballots from across the county still to be counted, updated totals show 2,609 votes are in favor, with 2,098 against among Truckee voters.

"Worldwide, there are nearly 4.5 million sex trafficking victims," reads a brochure being distributed by Courage Worldwide a nonprofit organization building homes for women and children rescued from sex trafficking. That startling statistic includes hundreds of thousands of U.S. children "being used as commodity for the profit of one and pleasure of another," the organization's website states.

Blast 825 has announced the winner of its "People's Choice" award from the brand's recent Roseville, California, grand opening event. The Placer SPCA, one of four local charities that participated in Roseville Blast 825's charity build contest, had the winning signature pizza for National Pizza Month.

Following on from senate approval for the Sunscreen Innovation act in October, the bill is set to go to President Obama for his signature and enactment into law. The act aims to streamline the sunscreen approval regulatory process, enabling the FDA to approve new ingredients far more efficiently.
