Cal Fire's Placer County firefighters undertook their latest Fill the Boot drive for Northern California's Muscular Dystrophy Association Friday morning.

In August, and again this month, a group of teenagers allegedly broke into the Auburn Valley Country Club, stealing alcohol from the restaurant, and taking golf carts onto the course and crashing them. Following up on leads, a detective with the Placer County Sheriff's Office located the three teens at a local high school.

In wake of the King Fire, the Placer County Water Agency is encouraging expanded and rapid remediation of heavily burned National Forest Lands to protect water quality of the Rubicon River watershed before winter storms. The agency's concerns were aired by General Manager David Breninger and Director of Resource Development Andy Fecko at Thursday's meeting of the PCWA Board of Directors.

The Yolo County Republican Party Central Committee paid a $5,000 fine for laundering money in 2010, highlighting "tainted" campaign contributions from the past. On Thursday, the state Fair Political Practices Commission voted unanimously to impose the fine, which resulted from a lengthy investigation into the campaign of Damon Dunn, who ran for secretary of state in 2010.
