NEVADA COUNTY - A booby trap was among the discoveries made by deputies during a raid of a convicted felon's home Thursday. According to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, deputies served a search warrant to 54-year-old Daniel Meinke's 1900 block of Purdon Road home early Thursday morning.

Early this morning the Nevada County Sheriff's Narcotics Task Force, Major Crimes Unit, served a search warrant at the residence of 54 year old Daniel Meinke in the 19000 Block of Purdon Rd. Meinke is a convicted felon and restricted from owning or possessing firearms. Sheriff Keith Royal says It was believed that he was in possession of a large number of firearms as well as possibly state prohibited weapons.

A project that sought to build some 112 residential homes on land overlooking Lake Tahoe has been withdrawn from the review process. Instead, the project applicant will submit a revised project that does not include building resort residential homes in the Tahoe Basin and instead clusters all development into the Martis Valley.

According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, six more people reported being solicited in the "jury duty" scam. Placer County Sheriff's detectives say they have been working to locate the perpertators, who are believed to be operating from out-of-state.
