The Placer County sheriff's office says a woman called authorities Nov. 25 to report an odour coming from the abandoned storage space in the city of Colfax, about 40 miles northeast of Sacramento.

Officials in northern California have asked for help finding information about the grisly discovery of two infants or fetuses in an abandoned storage unit. The Placer County Sheriff's department said Thursday that a woman who bought the contents of the unit through an auction last month found one of the bodies and called police, who subsequently found the other.

The bodies of two infants, possibly twins, have been found in an abandoned storage unit in Northern California, authorities said. It is unclear how long the bodies had been inside the storage unit in Colfax, but Placer County sheriff's deputies located and interviewed the infants' mother, said Dena Erwin , spokeswoman of the Placer County Sheriff's Office.
