When Regina Zimmer bid $40 on an abandoned storage unit in Colfax, California, near Sacramento, all she did before the purchase was look at the unit from the outside and hope to find something valuable. But after going through the contents and coming upon a storage ottoman, tape-sealed and with a "fragile" sticker on top, she "had a feeling it wasn't something good."

On Nov. 25, a woman called 911 to report a foul odor coming from an abandoned storage unit she recently bought in Colfax. Placer County deputies arrived at the 100 block of Sherwood Court and found the body of a small infant or fetus in a container.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office has issued a press release asking help from the public after the remains of two infants were found in a Colfax storage unit just before Thanksgiving. On Nov. 25, at around noon, a woman called to report a foul odor coming from an abandoned storage unit that she had just purchased through an auction, Placer County Sheriff's spokeswoman Dena Erwin said.

As I opened my laptop to write this column, my web browser popped up with the cute, cuddly and colorful world of Webkin z.com. For moment, I'd wondered if I somehow had pulled up a long forgotten web page visit from my browser history, but soon realized maybe our daughter hadn't quite outgrown her former fascination with the stuffed animals despite them being swept from sight in her bedroom.
